About R.J. Weiss
Founder of The Ways To Wealth
Hey there, my name is R.J. Weiss.
I'm a Certified Financial Planner® sharing the best of what I know about making money, saving money, and investing it wisely.
I’ll never forget the day I decided I wanted to help others become better with money. Unfortunately, I can’t forget that day because I was pretty ticked off.
When I needed help learning how to invest, I went to people who I thought had my best interests at heart. And for a year or so, I thought all was well.
But thanks to a few beginner personal finance books, I started to realize the mistake I made. What I thought was a sound investment strategy was instead a bunch of high-commission mutual funds.
Finding this out was a moment I’ll never forget.
I was angry, of course. But on that day I also made two decisions that I’ll always be grateful for:
- The first was to become a Certified Financial Planner®
- The second was to start writing about personal finance
The second goal was pretty easy. I set up a blog and started writing (on a different site than this one). And while the site did OK, I learned a ton about both personal finance and digital marketing.
In the meantime, I studied hard and in 2010, at the age of 26, I become a Certified Financial Planner®.
Over the years that followed I held a job in financial services specializing in insurance planning for young families. I was proud to be one of the few fiduciaries specializing in insurance, and I enjoyed the work.
In 2016, after taking a hiatus from blogging (I sold my previous site in 2012) I started The Ways to Wealth.
I didn’t expect that in just one year I would be running this site full-time. I simply wanted to write and share the best of what I knew about personal finance.
But thanks to a commitment to writing and a few lucky breaks — here we are.
